It is with great sadness that the HCBA notes the passing of our Honorable Judge “Kit” Sfekas of the District Court of Maryland for Howard County on June 28, 2002.  Kit died at GBMC after a 4 month struggle with medullary thyroid cancer,  with his wife, Lauren, at his side.  Judge Kit put up a good fight, with support from his family, and the literally thousands of friends and many others he touched.

Judge Kit Sfekas will be remembered by the legal community for his fairness and legal abilities.  Kit the man will be remembered by those who knew him outside the courtroom for his smile, his genuine warmth and caring, his coaching abilities and his devotion to his family and community.  He made the time for Lauren and his daughters, Allie and Lindsey, and for many of the young people in the community.

On behalf of the members of the HCBA, we extend our sincerest sympathies to Lauren, Allie and Lindsay, as well as our thanks for sharing Kit with all of us.
