Family Law Committee Meeting

The Howard County Family Law Committee proudly presents two very exciting Speakers!
Diane Kilcoyne, President, ESI Group, LLC:
What is electronically stored information (ESI)– where do I find it, and why do I need it?  Recent ethics opinions and case law mandate that all practicing attorneys know how to handle electronic discovery issues in every litigation matter.  Recent changes to the FRCP have changed the landscape slightly, as well. Every day new sources of potentially relevant information for your cases come online, including wearable devices like FitBit, smart home devices like Amazon Echo, and smart car data- even pacemakers are giving evidence.  You will learn what family law attorneys need to know about all of these data sources.
Lauren N. Brockmeyer, Esquire:
Nuts and Bolts of Estate Planning for Family Law Practitioners. Lauren will discuss estate planning basics and identify some issues particularly important to family law clients (i.e. second marriages, separated but not divorced, special needs children, life insurance policy ownership as part of an estate plan, inheritance tax and adult adoptions).
